PRE-SEASON TRAINING
MANAGING PRE-SEASON TRAINING LOAD
3 stats for you:
- Pre-season shows pre-season injury rates are 2-4x higher than in-season (Kerr et al., 2017)
- 12% of all injuries occur in the pre-season period at elite European clubs (Ekstrand et al., 2011)
- 57% of all quadricep injuries occur during pre-season (Eckard et al., 2017)
For this reason, there is no better time to work with a coach to manage your training load successfully.
However, I can only do this effectively if I have the information available to me to do so
Daily wellness questionnaires, weekly check ins and weekly schedule forms are are vital to ensure I can monitor your training load
Likewise any changes to your week, make sure they’re communicated quickly and effectively so I can ensure your week is planned accordingly
Likewise, completing the sessions on the days they’ve been set and not on separate days (unless discussed and agreed with me).
It’s been done this way for a reason!
